Knock Out™ RoseKnock Out™ Rose is the first rose chosen as an Arkansas Select. It is a compact shrub rose, resistant to black spot disease. This drought tolerant plant matures to a three foot by three foot shrub which blooms spring through fall. It needs no deadheading, as the flowers drop after bloom. Introduced in 1999 from Connard Pyle it was touted as "a breakthrough shrub rose" by the All- American Rose Selections for its disease resistance and hardiness. It was one of three roses to win the prestigious AARS award for outstanding garden performance in 2000. While it prefers full sun, this rose will bloom well in as little as four hours of sunlight a day. The flowers are fire engine red in cooler months and more a cherry red in the warmer months. It has actually proven to be tolerant of poor soils and drought conditions, but for best results plant in a well drained site with decent soil.
