Variegated Solomon SealVariegated Solomon Seal is a wonderful addition to the shade garden. The light variegated foliage helps it to stand out in a dark, shady garden. Native to Japan, this plant will get more beautiful each year as the colony increases in size. It is a tough, shade loving perennial with white variegated leaves and small, drooping white tubular flowers in April and May. The flowers are born along the underside of the leaves. It grows 24 - 30 inches tall. What starts as a stem or two the first season, eventually forms a dense mat several feet across– so give it time to come into its own. This plant prefers a rich soil amended with organic matter. Keep it well watered the first growing season. Once established it is very tolerant of drought and heat.
