May Night Meadow Sage
Salvia sylvestris, syn S. nemoraosa

  • Hardiness: Hardy to Zone 4 and statewide throughout Arkansas
  • Planting Season: Plant in the spring as soon as plants are available
  • Culture: Grows well in almost any soil with the pH above 5.5. Little fertilization is needed if planted in average garden soil. Established plants tolerate drought well, but newly planted plants should be watered as needed until established. Pinching the bloom spikes back about every 4 weeks will keep the plant blooming much of the summer. A perennial that blooms from late spring until mid-summer. Butterflies are attracted to the dark blue to violet fragrant blooms and the plant's long blooming season
  • Height: 20-24 inches
  • Spread: 12 inches
  • Exposure: Best in full sun or light shade
  • Soil Moisture: Provide a well-drained soil that is watered occasionally during dry periods. Overall May Night has very good drought tolerance
