Salvia 'Lady In Red'
Salvia coccinea

  • Hardiness: An annual  over most of the state but could survive as a perennial in the south part of Arkansas. Easily grown in any garden soil.
  • Planting Season: Plant in the garden after the danger of frost is past.
  • Culture: Plants respond to fertility and watering by growing larger and producing more blooms, but they will grow and bloom well with just average conditions. Pinching off the bloom spikes (deadheading) will keep the plant in bloom from late spring until frost. Bright red flowers are favorites with butterflies and hummingbirds! This red flowered annual, sometimes called Texas Sage, produces a continual display of color from late spring until frost.
  • Height: 20 to 24 inches
  • Spread: 24 inches
  • Exposure: Plant in full sun or light shade
  • Soil Moisture: Excellent drought and heat tolerance once established
