Dwarf Fountain Grass

  • Hardiness:  Hardy to zone 5 and statewide throughout Arkansas
  • Planting Season: Plant after the danger of frost in the spring
  • Culture:  Easily grown  in any average garden soil that has good water drainage. Plants respond to summer fertilization but will persist with little or no supplemental fertilization. In the spring, cut clumps back to the ground by late March in anticipation of new growth. Plants should be divided every 5 to 10 years to keep the center of the clump from dying. Dwarf Fountain Grass's, graceful arching, clump-forming grass with narrow, medium green leaves and golden-brown foxtail-like spikes appear in the fall and are up to 8 inches long. It blends with every landscape style. Provides attractive background plant in the perennial border.
  • Height: 30 inches when in bloom in the fall
  • Spread: 30 inches
  • Exposure: Best in full sun
  • Soil Moisture: Tolerant of drought once established
