U of A Rockefeller Institute
October 2007

Audio/Video Script:

We are at the new Winthrop Rockefeller Institute up at Petit Jean Mountain. This University of Arkansas facility is brand new to the public. It now has lodges, it has a restaurant and it has lots of educational facilities. Every second weekend they’re going to have cooking classes up here where you will actually get to come and watch the topics being demonstrated. There are also many gardening seminars throughout the year; we’ve done some landscape construction workshops, of which you can see the results of those projects on the grounds. There is also a farmstead project where there is a huge vegetable garden, complete with a grapevine arbor, as well as fruit trees.

If your kids have never seen peanuts or cotton growing, they can see it growing up here. There’s’ lots of recreation activities which include: a recreation center, tennis courts, basketball, paddleboats, fishing, bicycling; a lot to do, but the main focus is education.

There are lots of educational opportunities, whether it is learning about quails or songbirds, or gardening, there are many choices. If you are here down at the studio, the loft area is beautiful and the view is spectacular.

If you want more information do visit their website at http://www.wrcenter.net/ or give them a call at 866-972-7778.
