We moved here from Wisconsin, so this hot weather makes a difference with our
gardening. We have had difficulty growing some of our old regulars. Will
parsnips grow in Arkansas? We are retired and tired of the snow and cold,, and
really like it here. But we also like gardening–both for the food and something
to do. We would appreciate any help.
Parsnips are also a cool season plant, and are not commonly grown in Arkansas. That isn’t to say, they can’t be grown, but you must pay attention to watering and keep them free of weeds all season long. They are slow to germinate, and you must buy new seeds each season. Plant in March or early April, and harvest after frost.
