I have a willow tree in my yard that seems to have been attacked by borers. I
recently noticed a circle of holes surrounding the tree. Is there anything I
should spray with to prevent any more insects and kill the ones I have?
Whenever you see a ring of holes or a line of holes perfectly matched up, the culprit is not insects but birds. Woodpeckers or sapsuckers have favorite host trees that they like. Once they find one, they may be back. This looks worrisome, but usually doesn’t hurt a large established tree. Borer holes would be more scattered.
