(July) I have three wild roses is my yard, and they were healthy until last year
when a fungus hit them. I sprayed with all kinds of rose fungicide, but this did
not help. I cut them back this spring and the new growth was beautiful for a
while at least until the first roses had bloomed then the disease hit again.
They look terrible. Do you have any suggestions?
While many of the wild roses or antiques aren't as susceptible to rose fungus problems, occasionally you will get one that is. If the plant is getting black spot, which is common on hybrid teas, the best recourse is weekly preventative sprays with a fungicide. The key is to spray prior to problems, not after. Trying to cure the disease once it has taken hold can be tiresome. Hopefully, you will have better luck next year.
