(March) I was
wondering if you could answer a question for me. I would like to know what it is
exactly that makes that makes the holes in a ring formation around the trunk of
a pecan tree. I have noticed it throughout the year on my trees and other trees
in the area.
Anything that makes a perfect circle would be a sapsucker or woodpecker. Insect borers make much more random holes. it seems that some of these birds pick out a favorite tree, and can't seem to leave it alone.
(August) What can a person do to prevent birds from roosting in a tree at the
front of the house? The droppings get on the circle driveway near the front of
the house.
For bird control, your only recourse is scare techniques. You can try hanging bright mylar tape from some of the branches, try an inflatable eye or a fake owl. Sometimes these work, and other times they don't. You have to change things around a bit, try a variety of things, with any animal or bird control.
