Is a mullein plant a weed or a wildflower? Does it come back from the roots or does
it reseed itself? We dug up some plants during the winter and planted them. They
had lots of seeds on them. Can these seed be planted for new plants? How would
you go about it? Any other specifics on care would be appreciated.
The differentiation between a weed and a wildflower is where it is growing, and whether or not it is wanted. Mullein can occur naturally, but you can also purchase mulleins for the landscape. There are some very nice varieties available. Mulleins are either a perennial or a biennial. The biennials reseed themselves after they bloom, so they in effect can be almost considered a perennial. They all perform best in drier soils. Sow your mullein seeds in the fall.
