I have a container
with a water lily that is ok, but I have mosquito larva and I need to know how
to get rid of them. I do not plan on a fish this year so I was wondering if I
could put some diazinon in the water. How much and how often? Thanks-- (and my
neighbors thank you too)
The easiest and safest thing to do for mosquito larvae would be to buy what is commonly sold as "mosquito dunks". This is a formulation of Bacillus thuringiensis specifically for mosquitoes. They are sold in donut shaped floating "briquettes" and last for up to 30 days each. Check local nurseries for availability. A drop of two of oil on the water can also help, but how that effects the plants in the heat of summer, I am not sure.
