Help!! We are having a
terrible time with small brown centipedes. They climb on the brick of our house.
Every morning we go around picking them up and smashing them. We think we have
won the race, and it starts all over again the next morning. We are going to go
away on vacation, and we are afraid they will take over the house.
Actually, the centipede is considered a beneficial insect, since it eats primarily other insects. What you are experiencing is more a nuisance factor, unless you have lots of other insects around, and that is why they are migrating to your yard. If that is the case, encourage them. You can kill them with any general insecticide, but try sweeping them to the soil areas, and see if they will feed there.
