Houseplants - Spider Mites
Back to Houseplants

'Q' (Question)  Enclosed is a houseplant that I have had for the last six years. The infestation of the same sort has been going on for some time. I sprayed an insecticidal soap several times before, and I have also pruned it. It comes and goes, but the problem is beginning to infect my other house plants now. Please help!

'A' (Answer)  The problem is spider mites, which can be somewhat difficult to control. Isolate all of the plants which are infested, or pretty soon, you’ll have a house full of them. Insecticidal soap will give you some control, but would need to be done at least two or three times at weekly intervals. Another option is Intercept, a brand containing Resmethrin. Hopefully you can control this problem soon.
