Is there a solution I can mix to spray (or water) out door plants to rid them of
insects before I bring them in for the winter.
You can spray with insecticidal soap, or even mix your own. One teaspoon- tablespoon Murphy's Oil Soap per gallon of water. Make sure whichever product you are using that you water the plants well before spraying. Some plants with fuzzy leaves may be a bit more sensitive to sprays, so use caution, or test first. Even lightly hosing the plants from top to bottom can spray off insects and debris before the move indoors. If you know of real problems--spider mites, scale, etc., then you may want to have a "hospital ward" before moving these plants in with the whole group. I would consider throwing infested plants away unless they are really valuable to you.
