Would you be kind
enough to give me all the information that you have about the plant Drosophyllum
lusitanicum?
Drosophyllum lusitanicum is a subshrubby, insect-catching plant from Portugal and Morocco. It belongs to the sundew family. It grows about 12 inches in height and has a woody stem with long narrow leaves which bear sticky glands. Insects adhere to the sticky substance and their dead bodies are absorbed by the leaves It produces a small spike of bright yellow flowers in late spring. It can be grown inside as a conversation piece. It requires a minimum winter temperature of 45 degrees and a soil of equal parts sand and soil. Perfect drainage is a must, and it needs a bright, airy location. I have never heard of this plant, so I am not sure how readily available it is.
