I’ve had this plant a
couple of years. I had kept it inside and barely kept it alive. This year, I put
it on my porch, and watered occasionally. It has bloomed profusely, as you can
see from the picture. It has beautiful pink and white flowers. I do not know the
name of the plant or the proper care of it. I would appreciate any information
you can give me.
The plant in question is commonly called a desert rose, Adenium obesum. The stem or trunk of the plant is quite thick and fleshy, but it does need ample moisture during the summer months. It blooms with beautiful pink or red flowers depending on the variety. It cannot tolerate low temperatures, so it must be brought inside early, usually mid to late September. It is not the easiest plant to care for, and extremely slow-growing. It is native to east Africa. You are obviously doing something right, because your plant is beautiful.
