I put my large clivia
outside on an upper deck this past summer. I brought it inside when the weather
turned cool. Now I notice that every time I water it, some of these small
"worms" overflow the saucer beneath. Please tell me what they are and how to
treat for them in a way that is safe inside the house.
Your worms were looked at through a microscope, and they appear to be a type of annelid worm, which means they are in the same family as earthworms. Annelid worms are terrestrial worms which burrow into the soil and help aerate and enrich your soil. There is no reason to destroy them, they are simply being leached out with the overflow water.
