Groundcover - Vinca
Back to Groundcover

'Q' (Question)  (April) An established bed of Vinca minor has new growth at the edge of the bed. Quite a few of these new leaves are curled inward. No insects inside the curls. Good green color. The bed has only been exposed to one treatment of pre-emergent herbicide and fertilizer this spring. No evidence of curling leaves inside the bed. Any suggestions as to possible causes or cures?

'A' (Answer)  Vinca is tough so it should recover. It is possible the pre-emergent has caused some curling, or if you had new growth and you experienced a late frost, which many areas of the state did, then that too could curl the new foliage. Be patient, but watch it closely to see if the problem continues.
