I am writing about my tame
persimmon tree. I ordered it 15 years ago, and it has never produced a
persimmon. Yet it has been blooming for a few years, but it never holds the
blooms to make fruit. What is wrong?
Not all varieties of the oriental persimmons are self-fruitful. Since yours is blooming and not setting fruit, I would suspect that yours needs a cross-pollinator. If you’re in doubt as to what variety you have, plant either a ‘Gailey’ or ‘Tanenashi’, both of which are self-fruitful and should also serve as a pollinator.
