(October)
I have attached a picture of a very small clover like flower. It is roughly 3/4"
across, with a dry like texture. The flowers are very attractive but small. It
seems to grow quickly and spreads nicely. Do you have any idea what is it? Will
they dry well like straw flowers? I would like to grow some next year for myself
if I can identify it.
Without seeing the flower from the side angle, I am guessing it is a white flowered gomphrena or globe amaranth. These come in white, red and bright purple. The flowers dry very easily -- like straw flowers, and keep their color well. It is a tough performer in our gardens and can be grown from seed or from bedding plants. It will tolerate dry conditions well, but it does best in full sun.
